It seems to me a lot of times as Christians we put are whole focus on the wonder and miracle of Easter. While it is an awesome thing to believe in our God and know that he conquered death, and gave us the chance for eternal life, just by believing in him, I don’t think we should overlook what happened in the days prior to Easter. I believe it is just as miraculous the God loved us enough to sacrifice his son to save us. As a parent, I cannot even imagine willingly giving the life of my child to save someone else. We know God loves us infinitely more than we can ever imagine. As Christians before we celebrate the wonder and joy of Easter, we should pause long enough to grieve the sacrifice that Christ made on our behalf. He suffered a humiliating and torturous death, became sin, and bore separation from God just to save us, even though we did nothing to deserve it. Today, on Good Friday, I will remember the sacrifice on the cross and the pain Christ endured all because he loves you and me.
“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. 17 God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.
Christ suffered for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but he died for sinners to bring you safely home to God. He suffered physical death, but he was raised to life in the Spirit. 1 Peter 3:18
