Ashley Losing teeth

Things that may be very simple for other children can become very complex for Ashley. The best example I can think of is Ashley losing a tooth. This is something that happens to all children, and usually it is very fun and exciting for them. When Ashley was little, and lost her first tooth, not knowing how she would react; we took control. When it got loose enough, Jason pulled it out of her mouth. All the rest of her teeth slowly disappeared over the years. We would just find a hole in her mouth, and not know whether she swallowed the tooth, or if it just got lost. Then a couple of years ago, she became very aware of when she had a loose tooth. She would wiggle it and mess with it. Then when it finally came out, she would try to put it back in her mouth. Since it wouldn’t stay, she would bring it to me, and indicate that she wanted me to put it back. I guess it is good that she was becoming more aware and realized that teeth should be permanent (eventually). Yesterday, Ashley lost one of her molars, it just disappeared. I noticed when she came to me with blood all over her hands and face. Evidently, she had been digging at the resulting hole in her mouth. We spent the rest of the day trying to prevent her from digging in her mouth. She was very persistent, and she kept making it bleed over and over again. I’m hoping that while she slept, it healed enough for her to not notice it. See it should be simple, but it’s not. Like Created In His Image on Facebook Originally posted April 2012
