Today is Ashley’s birthday! I cannot believe that it has been twelve years since I first held her in my arms. They say the years go by fast, but each day can seem endless. That is a perfect description of parenting Ashley. I can honestly say being her mom is absolutely nothing like I thought it would be. But I adored that beautiful baby girl as soon as I knew she was growing inside me, and I adore her so much more today. Her persistence and strength amaze me. She is beautiful, intelligent, affectionate, and loving. Her life is not what I expected, but few things in life ever are what you are expecting. Ashley impacts everyone she meets. Being Ashley’s mom has changed me in ways that I could not imagine. I’m not sure what the next few years hold for Ashley and us, but we thank God for her everyday. Happy Birthday to the absolute best Valentine gift I ever received!
