The Importance of Trust
Luke 16:10-11 Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.
Honesty and trust have always been very important to me. I always prefer to be around people who are honest, even if they are a little too candid at times. Recently this verse has been coming to mind a lot. When I was younger I didn’t always understand the importance of trust in the small things. I operated under the assumption that as long as people could count on me when it mattered, it wasn’t that big a deal if little things got lost in the shuffle of life. But as I have gone through life, I have learned something little today, can become something bigger tomorrow. Or sometimes something that is considered little to one person is very important to someone else. When I discover I can’t trust someone as a result of a small breech of trust, I’m a lot less likely to trust them with things that are more important. I would like to be a person that other people feel they can trust in all things, and I like to surround myself and my family with this type of person. I love the wisdom and the simplicity of this Bible verse. We have often used it in discussions with our children. It is important to me to raise my children to be people of integrity that understand the importance of being honest in all their words and actions.
