Autism Saved Hailey

A few days ago I did a post on my fear of vaccines. I thought I should share with you what I believe to be my first miracle of autism. When Ashley was 2 years old, and we were realizing something was very wrong. We started doing a lot of research, the word “autism” kept popping up in all the reading. So I started really researching autism. There was a lot about vaccines particularly the MMR shot. Many sources mentioned the MMR shot containing eggs. None of this really mattered to me because I wasn’t completely convinced about vaccines yet, and I didn’t blame the MMR shot as a cause. During this time period, Hailey turned 1 year old. We gave her a first try of eggs, and she turned out to be very allergic to them. She ate maybe a tablespoon, threw up 9 times, and broke out in hives for 36 hours, and her eyes, nose, and throat filled with mucous. A few days later, I took her in for her 1 year checkup, and the doctor told me at her age she would need to get the chicken pox vaccine and the MMR shot. They actually had the syringe in hand, when I remembered the MMR shot contained eggs. So I questioned them about that. They went to look up the ingredients, and came back with the fact that it did contain eggs. The doctor told me that injection could have harmed or killed her. Now the fact that the doctor didn’t know this is a little scary, but be that as it may. I only knew this because I was researching autism. If Ashley did not have autism, and I was not researching it, we might have lost Hailey. How scary! That day Hailey did not get any shots, and didn’t get any more until many years later. We always say, in her own way, Ashley saved Hailey’s life. Like us on Facebook Originally posted March 2012
