Camp Week from Our Side

The first morning, I immediately emailed the camp to check on the kids. I got a response that Hailey and Josh were great and that Ashley had stayed up until midnight and was not great, but they were taking care of her and she was settling into camp life. I could tell by the response that Josh was having the time of his life. I was still concerned about Ashley and Hailey feeling out of place. But I was calming down some. Jason and I had rented a house, from people he knows, at Table Rock Lake, about an hour or so from the camp. It was pretty far out of town, so we agreed to go out and do things 2 days, and spend the other 3 days resting and relaxing. That way we could have a combination of rest and play time without the kids. It worked very well and I calmed down more as the week continued. I checked on the kids the third day as well. Their response proved that Hailey and Josh were having a lot of fun and Ashley was settling in – which is all we hoped for this year. At this point, I’m feeling great about camp and relaxed. We had a good week of alone time to rest and couple time to reconnect. It was a good time to have discussions that are hard to do with kids interrupting and too draining to do after the kids go to bed at the end of a long day. We appreciated the support and love of friends and family who were so encouraging and excited for us to have this opportunity. We definitely want to make this a yearly family tradition!
